Development of communication skills is central to the graduate program in Geography. Whether one pursues a career in government service, private research, or teaching, the ability to synthesize information, communicate research results, and complete written and oral presentations are vital to successful professional activities.
Competency in communication skills is required of all graduate students.
Competency in communication will be developed and refined by:
- Course and seminar activities;
- Preparation of reports summarizing scholarly paper or thesis ideas;
- Scholarly paper or thesis research and writing.
Each student is responsible for participating in sufficient activities to meet the communication requirement. Completion of the requirement will be judged by the academic advisor.
